BRAIN AUDIO AT
LONDON FILM FESTIVAL
Brain is proud to announce soundtracks on three projects showing at LFF 2024. UK premiers of features To a Land Unknown (dir Mahdi Fleifel), and The Stimming Pool (Dir. Neurocultures Collective and Steven Eastwood) alongside its three screen sister work Stim Cinema.
TO A LAND UNKNOWN
“After fleeing a camp in Lebanon, two Palestinian cousins are stranded in Athens, living in an underground limbo. Desperately seeking a way to reach Germany, they find themselves caught in an uncontrollable spiral. ‘To a Land Unknown’ races along like an edgy thriller, tragic but stripped back. A compelling, uncompromising and nuanced look at the living conditions of migrants.”
Brain worked with a powerhouse international sound team including sound designer Martín Hernández (Pan's Labyrinth / The Revenant) and Brain’s own re-recording Mixer Steve Bond. Sound design, foley and final cinema mix were recorded at Brain Audio Studios.

THE STIMMING POOL
This feature, co-created by the Neurocultures Collective and Steven Eastwood (Island / Buried Land), and shot on 16mm by Gregory Oke (Aftersun), is built around the concept of an autistic camera.
The sound and music in this film drifts in and out of what a neurotypical audience might expect. Raw documentary feature sound, repetitive (stimming?) musical motifs, diegetic point of view experience of characters in the film, idiomatic B-movie zombie flick music. Brain Audio was guided by the collective, whilst simultaneously invigorated by the chance to interrogate neurotypical artistic choices we make on a daily basis.

STIM CINEMA
This three screen installation, shot by Gregory Oke (Aftersun) on 16mm was co-created by The Neurocultures Collective & Steven Eastwood. Brain Audio sound designer Carlos San Juan has crafted a soundtrack that bridges the three screens in an intricate study of three wondering perspectives from an ‘autistic camera’.
