Rory is a multi-instrumentalist and has been working with music and sound for his entire career, having worked with a variety of media both as a creative and as an engineer. He has a very academic understanding of audio technology, having taught Audio Engineering and Game Audio at University for over ten years.

Since completing an MA in interactive audio his specialisation has been with game engines and audio middleware, providing non-linear music and sound design for a range of interactive experiences. He has worked with a number of indie game companies and continues to freelance in the games industry, mainly as a Sound Designer and Audio Programmer. Most recently Rory has been fascinated by VR and AR, and the many exciting possibilities that spatial audio provides, researching novel ways of approaching immersive sound and music in 3D. With Brain Audio he has helped build 3D models and interactive systems to test out and implement non-linear audio solutions, acting as an Interactive Supervising Sound Mixer.

Rory has often been the technical brain (and ears) behind Brain Audio’s interactive work. Rory comes into his own where sophisticated music/sound strategy and implementation have been central to the success of the project.
