THOMAS HAINES

Thomas (Tom) Haines is a British composer and sound designer with a background in the outer reaches of classical and electro-acoustic music. Known most notably for his scores for Wolf King (Netflix), The Stimming Pool (Steven Eastwood) and his virtuosic sound and music work on Quarantaine (Georgina Starr). His scores and sound design are effortlessly thematic, playful, dark and often magical.

Tom's early career includes performing Cage and Stockhausen and remixing Bjork, as well as making experimental live scores for shows at the National Theatre and RSC. He studied classical composition at the GSMD, London.

Tom has been making sound and score for animation for 25+ years, working with animation directors including Smith and Foulkes, Matthieu Landour, Jan Pinkava, Felix Massie, Laurie Rowan, Tom Brass and Fizzy Eye.

Tom’s work in sound and music often collides live instrumental performance with the use of extended electro-acoustic and film sound techniques. Thomas is only really tempted out of the studio by long-time collaborators Filter Theatre, the London Snorkelling Team (official orchestra of the london institute of ‘Pataphysics) and his latest collaborative project Clay.fm.
